St. Raymond of Peñafort, patron saint of lawyers and jurists
Saint Raymond, whose memory is celebrated today, January 7, is the patron saint of lawyers and jurists. He was born in Peñafort (Barcelona) in 1175 and died in January 1275, almost a centenarian, and was the third Master General of the Order of Preachers, the Dominicans, jurist and doctor of Law, and confessor and personal advisor to Pope Gregory IX.
